Baptisms

Adult believers' baptism

At St John's we see many people becoming Christians in later life who have never been baptised as children. We have a baptism 'pool' and hold baptisms once or twice a year as part of the monthly 'Transform' service, and sometimes on a Sunday morning.

Baptism is a public declaration of your faith in Jesus and is something Jesus did and got his disciples to do. If you have recently become a Christian and want to be baptised, please contact the vicar (Adam Foot) via the church office here.

If you're interested in the Christian faith, Alpha might be for you!

Baby baptism

Thursdays 6:30-7:30pm at St John's, please come and see Adam, the vicar or Gordon, the curate during our weekly 'office hour', To apply to have your baby baptised (during term-time, by appointment only) in the Church Office.

If this is not possible, then please contact the Church Administrator during office hours.

We ask you to begin to attend St John's at least six months prior to the baptism. To have a baby baptised in the Church of England, s/he must be resident in the Parish to which the church belongs, or permission must be sought from the Parish priest of the church in which the child is resident if the parent(s) are not already regular members of that Church.
